Mr. Xavier Sequeira laid the foundation of his family business in the hospitality industry in the year 1933 with his first venture aptly titled as ‘Cafe St.Francis Xavier’, a quaint yet contemporary restaurant specializing in authentic mouth-watering Goan cuisine.
With over 50 years experience in managing the Cafe, Mr. Sequeira’s family learnt the ropes of the hospitality business and now was ready to expand and take it to new heights. They planned the expansion in two phases , the first phase was a chain of pastry / snacks stores and the second phase by creating corporate / party venues.
In the first phase, the chain of pastry / snacks stores, they introduced ‘Xavier Pastries’ (now Golden Oven) in 1981. Two more outlets of Golden Oven were opened in 2006 and 2014 respectively.
The second phase was launched to cater to the growing demand for indoor and outdoor venues for corporate and family events. They first built an indoor venue called ‘Xavier Hall’ (now Golden Orchid) in May 1985, situated at Duler in Mapusa. Later, in 1996, they added an open air venue called ‘Severina Gardens’ and recently in 2011, they launched a second indoor venue called ‘Saffron’.
‘The Golden Orchid’ was launched on December 26, 2011.
